Discover the historic Frankfort Avenue corridor - a charming, friendly neighborhood featuring unique locally owned boutiques, galleries, restaurants and entertainment venues. Check out Butchertown Market, located in the old stockyards district. This building has been converted to house a furniture shop, metal works store and a Europen antiques store. recently opened in Butchertown is Bourbon Barrel Foods, which makes gourmet food products such as Bourbon Barrel Aged Worcestershire Sauce, Kentuckyaki Sauce, Bourbon Smoked Sea Salt and much more. Located at 1201 Story Avenue off Highway 64.

ANd for something completely different visit the Mellwood Arts Center. Formerly the Fisher Meat Packing Company it is a 360,00 square foot center. Some is still being renovated but the main section that is complete houses 165 artists and crafts people. Find unique furniture, artworks, and if you love  jewelry it is plentiful in all colors and types. One shop even gives lessons in making your own. The building is a maze you can spend wandering. And for the quilters and fabric crafters take a short drive to Shelbyville, KY to
